Cape Cod

Jan and I had a long, leisurely breakfast this morning - mostly because we had to kill time before WEBS opened their doors at 10am. The hostess at the hotel asked us where we were going, and had no idea where or what WEBS is. That's fine, more yarn for us! She did tell us about a yarn store in downtown Northampton that we might enjoy. So our first stop after checking out of the hotel was Northampton Wool.

We looked, we touched, we searched for the unknown, the exotic or the out-of-the-ordinary. Of course we found some of the aforementioned and left with some new books and patterns and stuff I'm not supposed to talk about so I don't spoil the surprise. We did not buy yarn, because quite frankly we have most of what she sold anyway.

Just a few minutes away from Northampton Wool is WEBS, and as the advertisement says, it's America's Yarn Store. We spend some time there, we looked, we touched, we bought stuff, but again: no yarn was purchased. I did find the cutest sheep d.....t that I had to buy for someone at KNK, we bought little b.....s, and books and things we had never seen before but absolutely can't live without. WEBS also has a bead store, but neither Jan nor I were impressed.

After shopping we made our way to the Cape. It took only 4 more hours and we were in Chatham where we will spend the next few days. Jan's friend Janis had invited us to stay with her and had left the door unlocked so we could go inside. We relaxed a little before Janis came home, then we sat and talked. Later we went to dinner in town, and all three of us had the Scrod. It was very good, and not deep fried and soggy like the fish we usually find in Florida. We had taken Janis' car and she took us to the lighthouse and the beach.

We went back to Janis' house and settled in for the evening. We talked, watched some TV, and Jan and I knit for a little while. Janis' house is on a river, it is very quiet there and out of the way.

This is the view from the street, the bedrooms are on the other side, looking out onto the river. It is quiet and dark, I think I'll sleep really well tonight.
